If you are arriving in Atlanta, follow signs to the baggage claim, which usually involves taking the internal “Plane Train” from your concourse to the baggage claim stop. Once you get off the plane, in the concourse, look for the signs for Baggage claim/Ground transportation like the one below:
Take the train to the last stop. Do not get off on concourse T!
To get to the Marta Airport station, you should first turn left or right go to the South or North baggage claim area (if you are not collecting your baggage, both lead you to the Marta station). The Marta station is facing you on the same side you get off the Plane Train; if you turn right to get to the North terminal baggage claim, turn left in the terminal to get to Marta. The entrance to the station is at the end of the hall after the last carousel. Look for these signs:
Inside the station you can buy or reload a Breeze Card or get a paper Breeze ticket at the station vending machine. Two (one-way) trips cost $5, plus $1 for a Breeze Card. Ride Stores are also staffed during business hours if you want to purchase fare from a person.
In most cases, you will select “trips” to add to your fare card or ticket, which are one-way fares. If you plan to ride MARTA multiple times a day, then choose the “day” option so you can purchase a pass with unlimited rides. One and two day passes are for $9 and $14 respectively, plus $1 to cover the cost of the Breeze Card.
You can board any train from the airport (Red or Gold lines) as they both head north. Take the train to the Midtown stop and exit the station towards Peachtree Place Northeast. A Georgia Tech trolley services this stop during normal hours. The Tech Trolley looks like this:
Alternatively you can walk to campus from either the Midtown or North Avenue stop to campus if you would rather. The Tech Trolley has stops at all of the conference locations and the GT Hotel.
If you are arriving at the international terminal, follow signs to ground transportation. Proceed to gate 3, which is marked for transportation to MARTA, and board the shuttle bus towards the domestic terminal. Upon arriving at the domestic terminal, head into the airport and MARTA will be immediately on your left. Continue directions from Domestic Terminal (above).
Directions to the Airport from Georgia Tech
To get to the airport via MARTA, first proceed to a MARTA subway station. These can be accessed from Georgia Tech by walking to the North Avenue or Midtown stations. Alternatively you can ride the Tech Trolley from Georgia Tech to the Midtown MARTA station. Once at a MARTA station, take any southbound train to the Airport MARTA Station, which travels directly into the domestic terminal. Exit the train and go down the escalator/steps to exit the station.
First take the directions for the Domestic Terminal. After taking the escalator down to exit the station, turn right after going through the fare gate to enter the baggage claim area in the South Terminal. Immediately turn right again and exit out of the building (W-2 door), making sure to follow signs to Ground Transportation. A shuttle bus is available just outside the door (across the street) that is clearly marked for the international shuttle.
